Frequently Asked Questions

At Farrah’s, we love to hear from our customers. You'll find the answers to the questions people ask us most frequently here. If you have any other questions please contact us.

Where are Farrah’s products made?

All of our products are proudly made in New Zealand at our world class factory here in Upper Hutt, Wellington.

Is Farrah’s a New Zealand company?

We sure are! Farrah’s is a New Zealand company that was first started in 1999 by Farrah and Jovan, who are still running the business to this day. Discover our story here!

Where can I buy Farrah’s Products?

Our products are available from all leading supermarkets in New Zealand, as well as other independent retail stores. Some supermarkets may not stock the full range of Farrah’s. If they don’t have your favourite in store, please feel free to ask the store manager and they may be able to order it in.

Are Farrah’s products gluten free?

At the moment all of our wraps and tortillas are made with wheat flour, however we know our customers would love a gluten free version so we never say never! All of our spice mixes are gluten free (except for Crispy Chicken).

How are Farrah’s Wraps and Tortillas made?

Our master mixers begin the art of the baking process by batch mixing all the ingredients to ensure we always create the perfect soft and silky dough. The dough is then gently divided and shaped into precise round balls, then proofed under tightly controlled temperature and humidity throughout the different seasons before being flattened into the iconic shape of our wraps and tortillas. Staying true to traditions we bake each side of the wraps and tortillas over an open flame oven, just like the Aztecs did in Mexico all those years ago. After cooling, the wraps and tortillas undergo a series of strict quality checks to ensure they reach you in premium condition.

Why don’t Farrah’s Wraps and Tortillas crack or split when rolled?

We pride ourselves on making world class wraps and tortillas! The reason they don’t crack or split when rolled is a combination of our recipes and how we make them. Each wrap and tortilla is made from a single dough ball which gets individually formed to help create a stronger and more pliable product. Our wraps and tortillas are then flame baked to an exact temperature to ensure they don't crack or split.

Where do you source your ingredients?

Where possible, we work with other NZ made products and suppliers. For example, our flour is milled locally (just down the road), our beautiful bags are made in Christchurch and the boxes our Wraps get shipped in are made in Levin. We get a real buzz from the great relationships we have with the people we do business with, and it’s even better to know we are supporting other NZ businesses, jobs, innovators and communities.

Are Farrah’s products suitable for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes (excluding Farrah’s Garlic Butter Wraps and Honey Wheat Wraps) all of Farrah’s Wraps and Tortillas are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. You will find symbols to represent Vegan and Vegetarian suitability on the back of our packaging.

Are Farrah’s Halal accredited?

Farrah’s have been granted Halal accreditation by the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand inc. (FIANZ). You’ll find a Halal symbol on the back of our packaging to show this.

Do Farrah’s sponsor schools and community events?

We do support a number of community events, and we give generously to many schools and charities in New Zealand every year by donating wraps and tortillas. Please email us with your sponsorship request and details at least 6 weeks prior to your event.

What do I do if I have a comment, question or concern about a Farrah's product?

Backed by the Farrah’s Promise, if your Farrah’s Wraps don’t perform as promised, we’ll give you a full product replacement or a refund, guaranteed! Simply give us a call with your comments, queries or concerns. You can also contact us through our website or visit our Facebook or Instagram pages.

Where should I store Farrah’s Wraps and Tortillas?

For best results, keep the packet sealed airtight and store at room temperature in a dry place out of direct sunlight, such as in your pantry. Consume within 5 days of opening. Wraps and Tortillas can also be frozen for up to 3 months (freeze flat so that you can use one wrap at a time). Thaw at room temperature before use and consume within 5 days of thawing.

Can I store my wraps or tortillas in the fridge?

Yes, you can, but it’s not recommended. The fridge can make your wraps or tortillas harden and less flexible than you would like. The fridge can also cause moisture to migrate to the middle which can make the wraps stick together.

Do I need to heat Farrah’s Wraps or Tortillas before eating them?

Farrah’s Wraps are soft and pliable, and taste great eaten straight from the packet. You can warm them if you wish, in a frying pan, a sandwich press or a microwave. We recommend heating Farrah’s Tortillas, these are a different recipe and are best used heated. You’ll find full heating instructions on the back of our packaging. If you want to make a burrito with lots of fillings, briefly heating the Tortilla should give you more flexibility and stretch, allowing you to encase all of your tasty fillings.

What else can I do with wraps other than make sandwiches?

There are many things you can make with Farrah’s Wraps, Tortillas and Spice Mixes. With the Wraps and Tortillas you can fill them, fold them, roll them, wrap them, shape them, fry them, bake them, stack them, grill them or dip them! Visit our Farrah’s Kitchen page for inspirational recipe ideas for all of our products.
